My story
For years, inflammatory arthritis controlled my life.
I know what it feels like to wake up in pain, fear the future and wonder whether there is anything you can do for yourself.
For years, chronic inflammatory arthritis controlled my life.
Every morning I woke up in pain. Some days I could barely walk. Every winter I wondered how much worse things were going to get. I was prescribed medication after medication, but I often felt sicker rather than healthier. Eventually, my illness became all I thought about.
It was not only the pain. I felt as though I had lost my life.
I refused to believe that was the end of the story. I spent countless hours researching and searching for anyone who had found another way. Eventually I discovered a woman who had recovered naturally through a vegan diet. I gave it a try, and I started to improve.
Later I discovered a low-fat raw vegan approach. That was when things really began to change. Over time, my pain continued to fall. My energy returned. I slowly got my life back.
Today I am off medication, pain-free most days and back in the gym building strength. I am not cured, and I do not pretend that my experience guarantees the same result for someone else. I also stopped medication before I was ready and caused permanent damage to my knee. I would never advise someone to make medication decisions without their healthcare team.
The greatest change is not only what I no longer feel. It is what I can do.
I can make plans. I can pursue my goals. I can enjoy life without thinking about arthritis every time I make a decision.
That is why I coach today. I want people who feel as frightened and hopeless as I once did to know that food and lifestyle are worth taking seriously. I cannot promise where that path will lead, but I can share what I learned and help you put the fundamentals into practice.
